Hervé Colinet was recruited in 2013 as a first class permanent researcher within CNRS (France). He has recognised expertise in ecology, entomology, and particularly in insect stress physiology. He is particularly skilled in fundamental and applied aspects of insect thermal biology, and has contributed many basic insights into thermal tolerance mechanisms, largely through transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic studies. Hervé has had postdoctoral research experience in several major laboratories around the world. He has also been involved in research on polar insects. His collection of papers probing the responses of insects to environmental stress provides not only insight into the mechanisms used by arthropods to respond to abiotic challenges, but his work also provides clues that can be used for applied work. In 2015, he was awarded a young researcher grant from Rennes Metropole to establish a fully equipped thermal lab. He is currently PI of an international program (ANR-FWF) focused on the invasive fly Drosophila suzukii. Hervé is also part of editorial board of The Canadian Entomologist. In addition to his research, Hervé is teaching at the University of Rennes as a contractual lecturer (60 h/year), and he currently has two PhD students under his supervision.
